This year has been a great one for English topflight forward, but who has done well in 2017?

  ALEXIS SANCHEZ



A few eyebrows might be raised by Sanchez’s inclusion due to his apparent drop in form in the second half of the year. However, it must be noted that the Chilean has still found the back of the net 17 times so far, a number loads of forwards will envy. The Chilean may have lost a bit of form and focus in the second half of the year, but he certainly was the Gunners’ most important player when performances were still up to scratch.

  ROMELU LUKAKU



Much has been said about the much-maligned Lukaku ever since he donned the Blue of Everton before proceeding to switch clubs in the summer. The Manchester United forward, though, on his day is one of the top forwards in the Premier League. With 25 calendar league goals for Everton and United combined the forward is surely one of the sharp shooters in the division. The Belgian may have struggled in recent months in front of goal for the Red Devils, but he’s contributed in attack for Jose Mourinho’s side and offered his fair share in other aspects. A peek of happenings at Goodison Park also shows how hard Everton have been hit by his sale.

  RAHEEM STERLING



A major beneficiary of City’s unprecedented start to the season, Sterling has been bang on impressive for the Citizens this season. He’s scored 13 goals in this calendar year, with 12 coming this season and has displayed some brilliant finishing in an exemplary side that’s stormed to 17 straight wins in the Premier League this season.

  EDEN HAZARD



 Chelsea’s best and arguably most important player last season definitely deserves recognition for his performances over the course of the year. The Belgian is a magician with the ball at his feet and made things happen for Antonio Conte’s side as they sauntered to the title. The attacker has scored 12 goals in this calendar year and should have had more if he’d not missed the start of the current season.

  SERGIO AGUERO



Aguero may have lost a bit of his edge in the last 18 months, but is still a top class striker when he’s played. The Argentine has found the back of the net on 22 occasions, which is a very good return considering he’s had to battle with Gabriel Jesus for the central attacking role under Pep Guardiola.

  MOHAMED SALAH



 Not to be outdone by Sterling, Salah has displayed a remarkable level of efficiency for Liverpool since his move from Italian giants Roma in the summer. The wideman has scored 21 goals in all competitions, with 15 coming in the League, which makes him the first Liverpool man to hit over 20 goals in all competitions since the Suarez-Sturridge nearly year in 2013/2014. The Reds may be out of the title race, but with the Egypt International in top form - and provided he can keep it going - will be needed in the second half of the season as they chase a top four spot and look to progress in Europe.

  HARRY KANE



It was never in doubt who the top forward in England would be, with Kane boasting of very high numbers. His hat-trick in Tottenham Hotspur’s 5-2 over Southampton saw him move on to 56 calendar goals, which saw him surpass the golden duo of Lionel Messi (54) and Cristiano Ronaldo (53). With 39 of those goals coming in the Premier League, he’s also surpassed Alan Shearer’s long-standing record of 36 league goals set in 1995. The forward is arguably head and shoulders above his contemporaries in England, and to be mentioned in the conversation of the top strikers in world football shows how highly regarded he is.

Harry Kane scored twice as Tottenham beat Everton to one side at Wembley on Saturday, writing his name into the record books in the process. Son Heung-Min and Christian Eriksen got the other goals as Mauricio Pochettino's side ran out 4-0 winners.
